Compatible Inkjet Ink is kind of like photo paper. Even though something is labeled sold as photo paper, there is good, there is bad and there is "why did I even bother with this", types of products.
Most all compatible inkjet ink originates in China. There are many small factories that produce it for export to many third world countries. Most of those inks are made with water from local municipalities (city water) and is not ph balanced for long term use in inkjet printers. Generally, it is made for quick sale, not long lasting printheads and photos.
If you're looking for compatible inkjet ink by the bottle and you're looking for quality inks, you should buy from an American ink dealer. American made compatible inkjet inks are produced to match the printing specifications of original name brand inks and are rarely made to be a 'one size fits all' type of ink. American made inks are generally always higher quality than imported inks simply because the research and development that is put into the formulas is world class.
Depending on your demands, you may not have any concern for the quality of ink that you use. You may simply be looking for inks that will get you by until you buy another printer. If that is the case, then there is not much to be concerned about. However, if you are in fact looking for long term print quality and to preserve the life of your printer and printheads, I highly recommend that you consider your inks from a reliable source of American made inkjet inks.
Quality compatible inks are a great way to save money on printing, however just as noted above, there are good, bad and ugly. Carefully consider the source of the inks that you buy because, if you don't, you may be buying a new printer or printhead before you know it.
